Provaré Technology to Attend the Fall 2008 University of Alabama Science and Engineering Career Fair

Alpharetta, GA, August 28, 2008 — Provaré Technology is pleased to announce that its representatives will attend the University of Alabama Science and Engineering Career Fair to be held at the Bryant Conference Center on the University’s main campus in Tuscaloosa, Alabama on Tuesday, September 23, 2008. Provaré has experienced significant growth and increased demand for its services thus far in 2008 and has boosted its recruiting efforts accordingly.

Both of the founders of Provaré Technology, Bill and Sandi Tepper, graduated from the College of Engineering at the University of Alabama, so they are both familiar with the College and have several friends on the faculty. “I am really happy to have the opportunity to recruit at the University,” said Mrs. Tepper. “I know from my experience both at Alabama and since that the engineers graduating from ‘Bama are as good as any in the country. And, to be honest, I look forward to any excuse to visit the campus again.”
One might be naturally expect Provaré to focus primarily on Computer Science graduates since it is in a software-focused business, but the Teppers are quick to explain that this is not the case at all. “We have clients in every field of technology development and in a variety of technology-driven services,” says Mr. Tepper. “What we need is the best engineers in any field because it is these engineers’ intelligence and ability to creatively approach and solve problems that will determine whether they’ll be successful at Provaré. You also have to remember that process improvement has become a large part of our business – approaching half. We need employees who not only can solve technical problems, but who can also apply technology to boost our clients’ productivity.” To that end, Provaré will be talking with engineers and scientists from any and all science and engineering disciplines while at the fair.

Because it is a service business, Provaré places special emphasis on recruiting, training, and retention of the best and the brightest employees. It meets these goals first by limiting its college recruitment activities to engineering schools and then by demanding very high GPAs. To address rentention, Provaré offers benefits that are not only unusual for other companies its size, but are better than many commercial employers of any size.

Perhaps most unusual in Provaré’s array of employee benefits is its employee ownership program. Provaré Technology maintains a profit sharing plan that is fully company-funded (i.e., there are no requirements for employees to contribute any of their salaries in order to participate). Without getting into the details, as the plan is administered, all Provaré employees are part owners of the company. More amazingly, although they have been repeatedly offered venture capital funding, Provaré’s founders have always declined. So not only are all employees part owners, but in fact, only employees are owners.
When asked whether their employee ownership culture benefits their recruiting efforts, Mr. Tepper responds “yes, but probably not the way you think it would. We find that some people are afraid of the perceived risk and responsibility. But that’s OK, because those are not the kind of people we want to hire anyway. So in a sense, it attracts the employees we want while filtering those we’d rather not hire.”
